What under-notice space is not

A tenant who has served notice still has the keys. The furniture may already be half gone. Neighbours may speak as if the unit is free. Until possession returns, the unit is occupied for the occupancy reading.

Treating under-notice space as vacant inflates the letting plan. An agent may already be booking viewings; that does not move the column. We mark the notice date, the contractual end, and whether a break was valid on the papers you supplied. If the papers are silent, the row says so.

This distinction matters on mixed-use stairs more than on a single-let shed. One family leaving a courtyard flat in August is not the same event as a shop whose lease ends in August. Both can be under notice. Only one returns a shopfront to the street.
